The Taiwan Excellence Showcase tours the world each year to promote Taiwan’s culture of technological innovation and leading-edge design. The exhibition is supported by Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade of the MOEA and implemented by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council.
2016 marks the first Taiwan Excellence Product Showcase at the New York Time Warner Center, which ran from September 22nd-25th. Featuring over 50 award-winning products from Taiwan’s leading companies in innovation, the exhibition allowed visitors to experience some of the latest technological breakthroughs across a range of categories, including gaming computers, smart accessories, alternative transportation, and sustainability. Many of the items made their exclusive U.S. debut. The event also included cultural performances, product demonstrations and more.
TAITRA’s Chairman, Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang, opined at the opening of the showcase, “Cooperation has grown incredibly with the blossoming of the US-Taiwan relationship over the past decades. The two countries have been collaborating closely in many areas, including on trade, culture and education. Shared cultural values and the pursuit of better living have underscored these ties. TAITRA’s New York office has a history dating back to 1971, and it was the first office in North America after my organization was started in 1970.”
Lily L. W. Hsu, the Ambassador of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York said, “The U.S. and Taiwan enjoy a robust relationship and extensive interaction in many fields. The production of the iPhone from scratch to finish serves as a perfect example of Taiwanese and American collaboration. The key components of the iPhone, such as chips, touch ID sensors, screens, and cases are made by Taiwanese companies. The complex integration of these technological components of hardware and software are all done by Taiwanese firms as well.”
Joe Wolfer, the Senior VP of Sales & Marketing of the well-known porcelain producer Frantz Collection, stated, “Time Warner Center is the mall for high end customers. To show case the products here will be very helpful in reaching the right customers.”
Artemis Tsai, the General Manager of the Shaan Hong Int’l Cosmetics Corp, said, “Shann Hong has been running the B2B business for over 20 years, the Taiwan Excellence Showcase at the Time Warner Center is very helpful in reaching consumers, while learning more about the consumer.”
Nancy Ploeger, the International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge Foundation in the US, stated at the opening of the showcase, “It is a great pleasure to see so many Taiwan Excellence products at one time. It encourages more brands to exhibit in US malls, like the Time Warner Center.”
The opening of Taiwan Excellence Showcase attracted 50 VIPs in the commercial and media fields, including Carmela Mammas, who serves as the Director of the New York U.S. Export Assistance Center, the U.S Commercial Service International Trade Administration, and the U.S. Department of Commerce, and Justin Yu, the Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of New York.
This year, four Taiwan Excellence events have been scheduled to promote the winning products. The Taiwan Excellence Showcase in New York City marks the third sparkling event. In November, a Taiwan Excellence event will visit Las Vegas during the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX).
