The 4th Taiwan Excellence Happy Run Continued to Support Children in Need with 3,500 Kindhearted Runners

The 4th “Taiwan Excellence Happy Run” held on 14th May 2017 in Jakarta celebrated its continuing success with 3,500 runners and all its charity partners. The unique running and charity event took place in the Golf Driving Range GBK Senayan this year, and was integrated into the Taiwan Week Campaign, which also consisted of the Taiwan Expo and 3 Taiwan industry forums to jointly promote the image of Taiwanese goods in Indonesia.

The Taiwan Excellence Happy Run has grown into one of Indonesian runners’ favorites not only for its festive atmosphere, but also for its dedication in promoting charity. The event has been joining forces with Taiwanese top brands such as EVA Air, China Airlines, PX, SYM and Acer to raise awareness for children living in poverty. This year, with the cooperation of Yayasan Obor Berkat Indonesia (a charity foundation specializing in the care of underprivileged community) and celebrity endorser Yuanita Christiani, 2,325 children’s books were collected from participants in merely two hours. All books will be distributed to low-income children to spread literacy and encourage them to pursue a higher education.

As the event organizer, Chairman of TAITRA, Mr. James C.F. Huang, wished in his opening remarks that the Taiwan Excellence Happy Run will bring positive energy to all participants. The representative of Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Indonesia, Mr. John C. Chen, was in charge of opening the run for the excited runners. PX Taiwan, one of the main suppliers of TV antennas and set-up boxes in the world, continued to sponsor the official running shirts for the 4th year in a row. Mr. Richard Liu, general manager of PX, said that he was very proud and happy with the positive response of Indonesian people towards PX products. He also hoped that more Indonesian consumers would learn about and enjoy PX Products in the future.

Various Taiwanese food stands including Bubble Milk Tea and Planet Popcorn were set up at the starting/finishing area to provide special refreshment for the participants. In addition, the organizer provided Dart Wheel, Tennis Ball, and other games that can only be found in Taiwan night markets for the runners to enjoy.

As part of the Taiwan Week Campaign, all finishing runners were guided to collect their medals at the Taiwan Expo at the Jakarta Convention Center, where they can personally experience a wide range of Taiwanese high-tech products. The grand finale of the Taiwan Excellence Happy Run featured a compelling performance delivered by the famous Indonesian band Project Pop, and a lucky draw to win the grand prizes, 2 Taipei-Jakarta round-trip flight tickets sponsored by China Airlines and Eva Air. All runners were amazed by the varieties of activities and the combination of Taiwan technology showcase, and looked forward to participating again next year.
