Edimax Technology Focuses on IoT Safeguard Information Security Comprehensive Enhancement of Network Products

Established in 1986, Edimax Technology originally focused on wired Ethernet products. In 2002, it forecasts the growing trend of wireless applications and shifted its focus to wireless products. At the beginning, the company focused on consumer products that were less technologically demanding. Now it produces a wide range of products and developed both consumer and the telecommunication markets. The company also invested in Comtrend and is involved in the telecommunication market.

Leader of the telecommunication industry optimize user experiences

As a business in the rapidly changing telecommunication industry, Edimax Technology insists in pursing innovation, research and development. Senior Vice President of Edimax Technology, Liang-Jung Pan, pointed out that the R&D team accounts for about 70% of the employees. Every year, Edimax Technology continues to increase its R&D investment in producing innovative products. Moreover, it joined the Wi-Fi Alliance and engages in strategic collaboration with a number of wireless network chip manufacturers. The company adopt diversified management strategy for its OEM/ODM business as well as its own brand. Edimax not only focuses on the research and development of technology and functions, but it also makes products with added values, such as aesthetic designs, to optimize user experience.

 

In recent years, Edimax shifted its focus to environmentally friendly and information security products! In 2016, the Edimax’s EdiGreen AirBox was launched in the Smart City Summit & Expo. Currently, more than 6,000 monitoring stations have been setup country-wide, and more than 10,000 stations worldwide. It allows the user to obtain real-time information on local air pollution through the utilization of cloud technology and the EdiGreen App. Edimax also planned ahead in terms of information security-related issues for cloud information/video storage and actively conducted R&D of technologies that encrypts the core chip on the hardware - the SecuBox secure connector for videos, to comprehensively improve the information security of IP surveillance systems. Looking to the future, Edimax will continue to focus on innovation and R&D of 5G, AI, AIoT, etc.; to create added value software and provide a comprehensive solution systems.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Edimax's factories in China were forced to shut down after Chinese New Year. The management team coordinated offices around the globe in terms of mask distribution and work quickly resumed in February. By March, the production capacity had recovered to 80% of that prior to the pandemic! For the subsidiaries in America and Europe, Edimax adopted the WFH (Work from Home) approach. Due to the surge in global needs to WFH (Work from Home), the public’s demand for telecommunication products with stable and fast internet connections increased, with the number of placed orders received increasing dramatically as welly. The sales performance in July even set a new record compared to recent years!

Recognized by the Taiwan Excellence Award  Optimization in Quality and Aesthetic Design

Since 2000, approx. 50 of Edimax Technology’s products have received the Taiwan Excellence Award, with a whole variety of products winning the award, including Total Air Quality Solution, Office 1-2-3 Office Wi-Fi System for SMEs, AC1200 3-in-1 Dual-Band In-Wall PoE Access Point, etc. Regarding Edimax’s intention of participating in the Taiwan Excellence Awards 20 years ago, Liang-Jung Pan stated that "The Taiwan Excellence Award is a national-level certification. At first, we just wanted to try and see how well we are doing with our products.”

As our products begin to win the favor of the judges year after year, the impact of the awards turned into an internal drive for excellence. Our teams started to optimize their designs, create more added-value, and enhance user experience. Liang-Jung Pan pointed out that "The Taiwan Excellence Award values four main aspects of marketing – R&D, design, quality and innovation. After the participating in the competition, we increased the size of the design department, continue to raise the standard regarding our quality and design, which then enhanced our reputation!” This year, Edimax also plans to submit a range of products to the Taiwan Excellence Awards.

Continue International Marketing and Enhancing Brand Exposure

Driven by the Taiwan Excellence Award, Edimax continues to research and develop new products in catering to the needs of the users. Edimax embraces the company’s 4S (Software, Solution, Service and Security) strategies in providing customers with competitive solutions to meet various needs. Because of our efforts, the value of our own Edimax brand continues to increase. In 2014 and 2015, the brand was consecutively named the top 35 most valuable Taiwanese brands by the world's largest brand consultancy, Interbrand.

Driven by our commitment to brand development, Edimax continues to participate in the Taiwan Excellence Awards. After receiving the awards, the Taiwan Excellence label is used extensively on product packaging, company website, and catalogs. We emphasize these achievements every time we communicate with foreign guests and customers. Thus, we were selected for TAITRA’s “Taiwan Excellence Award Encouragement Program” and we will continue to increase our exposure through domestic and foreign marketing activities.

Edimax continues to expand its distribution network in more than 70 countries and regions world-wide. After receiving the Taiwan Excellence Award, Edimax collaborated with the TAITRA and started seeking business opportunities in countries such as Germany, India and Vietnam. Liang-Jung Pan emphasized that "Receiving the Taiwan Excellence Award is a great selling point for the products in foreign markets. Especially with TAITRA conducting years of promotion in international markets. TAITRA really helped Edimax significantly increase exposure in foreign markets.” Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, exhibitions had been suspended and Edimax is eager to take advantage of TAITRA’s digital marketing plans and make use of the available business opportunities!
