Date published 2017-09-14
The largest and the most reputable international IT event in the world, the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 2017), along with the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion display, officially and successfully concluded on September 13 in Taipei. The Taiwan Excellence Pavilion, the largest pavilion at the WCIT 2017 exhibition in Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1 (Booth #A604), showcased more than 160 products of several renowned Taiwan brands in the fields of Internet of Things (IoT) and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) solutions, ICT, manufacturing, and healthcare.

The Taiwan Excellence Award, an initiative of the Taiwan Bureau of Foreign Trade and managed by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), represents reliability, innovation and technological superiority in Taiwan’s most competitive industries.

On September 11, Minister without Portfolio Tsung-Tsong Wu, Economic Minister Jong-Chin Shen, WITSA Chairman Yueh-Hsiang Chiu, TAITRA Chairman James C. F. Huang and President & CEO, Walter M. S. Yeh, visited the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion and discovered the latest trends in the evolving digital era and witnessed Taiwan’s achievements and significance in the global ICT industry.

The Taiwan Excellence Pavilion displayed six different scenarios: Intelligent Transport Systems, Smart Living Technology, Smart Education Solutions (Flipped Classroom), Intelligent Manufacturing Systems, Smart Healthcare Industry and Leading Technology Trends, under the single umbrella theme “Smart City”. As visitors entered the site, different links in the chain connected and the theme ultimately emerged. One of the Pavilion highlights saw an actual bus equipped with Advantech eBus 2.0 solutions with functions including intra-vehicle data collection and analysis, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, and driver-behavior recognition, serving to provide useful warnings to the driver and back-end fleet owners, therefore increasing operational efficiency and safety.

An additional eye-catching product at the Pavilion was the Agriculture Coaxial Helicopter from Thunder Tiger Corp. located in Leading Technology Trends section. The coaxial helicopter has a precision spray system for pesticides, fertilizers and herbicides, and provides for high efficiency agricultural use. During the exhibition, the section was brim with visitors wanting to experience the “Trident 3 Arctic”, the latest gaming desktops from Micro-Star International Company Limited (MSI). The on-site product was equipped with VR headsets for gaming at its best.
