Taiwan Excellence Focuses on Autotronics in Tackling Western Markets
Date published 2020-03-05

As 5G, AI and IoT technologies mature, a new wave of business opportunities has sprung up in the global automobile industry. Future developments in the automobile industry will revolve around C.A.S.E trends – Connected, Autonomous, Shared & Services, Electronic. Confident that the four areas of development will bring great business potential to Taiwan’s industry supply chain, the 2020 Taipei AMPA, AutoTronics Taipei, and Motorcycle Taiwan, originally scheduled for April 15 to 18, have all been postponed to October 21 to 24 to ensure the health and safety of all participants. These events not only combine the industry’s development trends, but are expected to attract over 7,000 foreign buyers. TAITRA President & CEO Walter Yeh stated that Taiwan’s widely recognized manufacturing strength, paired with the country’s unrivaled IT and communications industries, self-driving vehicles, smart charging stations, smart parking systems and other solutions, is creating huge business opportunities. ‘Electronization,’ ‘Motorization’ and ‘Intelligentization’ are the main axes of this exhibition.

The global electric vehicle market is seeing rapid growth. According to the latest report from the IEA, the number of global electric vehicles is predicted to reach 130 million in the next decade. In addition, ITRI’s IEK research indicates that, with the arrival of the era of electric vehicles, IoV and carpooling, the market will reach USD 800 billion by 2030, during which time the automobile electronics industry is expected to flourish. With a major automobile industry shift just around the corner, Taiwanese businesses should make use of Taiwan’s global-leading communications industries, plus the advantages of having a complete supply chain, and enter the “factory-installed products” market through high-value innovative products. This is also a golden opportunity for non-traditional auto part & accessory businesses to develop a presence in the global market.

With the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), global production of automobiles and automobile parts/accessories has been greatly affected. Taiwanese businesses can seize this opportunity to become foreign suppliers with the advantages offered by their quality and flexible production lines. To promote the innovative momentum of Taiwan’s autopart & accessory industry, The Bureau of Foreign Trade, MOEA, has come up with a promotional program for Taiwan’s auto part & accessory industry (to be implemented by TAITRA). This includes setting up Taiwan Excellence booths in this year’s auto-related exhibitions, including Automechanika Mexico, Automechanika Frankfurt, and AAPEX. Aside from showcasing automobile electronics and smart transportation products of award-winning businesses, Taiwan Excellence booths will also feature products from companies that are representative of Taiwan, including, DEPO, TYC, Eagle Eyes and Kenda. Moreover, Taiwan Excellence will combine in-depth industry reports from international media, social networking, and internet forums in order to maximize promotional effects and provide additional momentum for Taiwan’s autopart & accessory industry.

Taiwan’s outstanding businesses are encouraged to participate in the 29th Taiwan Excellence Selection, which will soon begin from March 16th, 2020. For more details, please visit the Taiwan Excellence official website: https://www.taiwanexcellence.org/tw
