The recent bike industry roadmap has shown that IoT solutions and electrification of bikes have created a new path for companies to ride. A leading player in the global bike industry, Taiwan is returning to Bike Expo New York (BENY) May 4-5 2018, while the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), Taiwan’s foremost trade promotion organization, will showcase “smart” products including e-mountain bike, cycling power meter, bike attire and more.

TAITRA is featuring some of Taiwan’s most innovative companies and products at the BENY Taiwan Excellence booth (#604). The Taiwan Excellence Showcase will highlight the latest offerings from thirteen brands: AiQ, Darfon, DIZO, Giant, Kenda, KMC, Pacific, Sun Own, Ta Ya, Thermaltake, TBS, Transcend, and Unite Creative Design.

Highlights of this year's Taiwan Excellence Product Showcase:

•  TBS AROFLY Ultra-Smart Biking Solution (Bluetooth)

Unlike traditional power meters, the inventive AROFLY’s Power Meter from the Total Biking Solution is the world’s smallest and most affordable power meter. This cutting-edge product is designed to be installed on the rear tire of a bicycle, paired with the AROFLY’s heart-rate wristband and GPS bicycle computer, or the official APP; cyclists are ready to go.

• DIZO Bike S6-R

The Bicycle Kingdom Ventures into New Horizons - The US E-Bike Market

Renowned as “The Bicycle Kingdom”, Taiwan maintains its strong presence in the global bike industry, with innovation and robust export performance throughout the world. According to the Taiwan Bike Association, 2.36 million complete bikes were exported from Taiwan in 2017, with an average unit price of 559.87 US dollars. The United States is the largest import partner of Taiwan’s bicycle industry, with over 470,000 units of complete bikes being imported to the US from Taiwan in the last year, valued at US$380 million. No doubt, Taiwan will be a significant player and competitor in the potentially growing US e-bike market. As the industry is riding into a new era of electric-powered bikes, e-bikes have become the focal point of the bike industry in recent years, with a total of 27,000 e-bikes exported from Taiwan to the US in 2017, creating a substantial margin of 63% compared to the previous year.

Hosted by TAITRA since 1988, the Taipei Cycle Show is now Asia's biggest and best cycling industry extravaganza - in the top three bicycle exhibitions in the world.
