Taiwan Excellence Marathon Team presented at BERLIN VITAL 2018
Date published 2018-09-15

Berlin, 15 September 2018 – The Taiwan Excellence Team Presentation Event is a festive ceremony every year, in which the Taiwan Excellence Marathon Team is presented for the BMW BERLIN MARATHON. As the official partner of the prestigious marathon, Taiwan Excellence—an initiative of the Taiwan Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) and of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA)—presented again this year a lavishly designed exhibition booth: the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion. Here, visitors can inform themselves about the newest innovations from Taiwan.

After the musical performance of a violinist, Taiwan Excellence will open this year’s Taiwan Excellence Team Presentation Event on the morning of 15 September 2018. As the highlight of the event alongside the presentation of the Taiwan Excellence Marathon Team, the Chairman of TAITRA James C. F. Huang, the Representative of Taiwan in the Federal Republic of Germany Prof. Dr. Jhy-Wey Shieh as well as the CEO of the event organizer SCC Events GmbH Jürgen Lock will naturally be numbered among the prominent speakers.

“We are very proud of our marathon team this year. The ambition and progress of these 20 special people will serve as inspiration for the coming year for Taiwan Excellence. Taiwan Excellence wishes its team great success for the BMW BERLIN MARATHON,” commented TAITRA Chairman James C. F. Huang.

The Taiwan Excellence Marathon Team is comprised also this year of German and Taiwanese runners, who were meticulously chosen by Taiwan Excellence. This year, above all else in the foreground stands the motivation of the runners, which is manifested through the #ReachYourExcellence shoelaces that are to be worn. These will also be offered at the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion at BERLIN VITAL 2018. Thus visitors on the day of the marathon also have the opportunity to become part of the Taiwan Excellence Team and to wear their fascination with the Team on the outside. “We are very happy to be able to cooperate with the BMW Berlin Marathon,” declared James C. F. Huang. “The enthusiasm for sports is a language that unites people across national borders. We are happy to support this enthusiasm and these emotions of this event.” To show Taiwan’s technological lead, some of the runners will carry virtual reality gaming backpacks, while others will show the variety of Taiwanese fruits.

In Germany and many other countries, brands from Taiwan have been trusted for years. One could most recently notice this development at this year’s football World Cup. Although Taiwan itself did not take part, the quality of Taiwanese brands from participating teams was noted and esteemed. “We understand it as the greatest compliment for our domestic brands,” declared James C. F. Huang. “The sports industry is once again one of the most dynamic and most successful in Taiwan’s economy.” The export value of Taiwanese sport articles climbed 7.8% in the first half of this year to a total 770 million USD in comparison to last year. As a matter of fact, Taiwan even beat the European Union as the top exporter into second place with a total export value of 110 million USD.

On the Sunday of the marathon, a Taiwan Excellence hotspot will be located at the 40th kilometer point on the marathon course. An enthusiastic cheering team will fire up the runners as they dash through the Taiwan Excellence Arch on their way to the finish line.

Visitors to the sport, health, and lifestyle trade fair Berlin Vital can find the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion at Stand 7.001. Here, the newest products and innovations distinguished with the Taiwan Excellence Award from areas like gaming, lifestyle, healthcare and sport are presented to visitors to the trade fair. Visitors can also pose for a souvenir photo at the booth that places them directly in the action of the marathon. There is also be an opportunity to send various marathon-themed postcards with motivational messages to family and friends. In marking the BMW Berlin-Marathon and to become a part of the greater Taiwan Excellence team, visitors can also pick up their own pair of #ReachYourExcellence shoe laces.

The #ReachYourExcellence shoe laces are a recurring element and symbol of the campaign that serves as an incentive to boost the runners’ own motivation. The Taiwan Excellence red represents enthusiasm, wholehearted commitment and absolute determination. The shoe laces are there to remind runners of their own personal goals and to motivate them during their training and the marathon.

The German runners were supported by Online Coach Piet Könnicke from Potsdam. He gives the runners helpful training tips and accompanies them during their preparations for the marathon. In addition, he created an individual preparation program for the legs of each runner.
