Tong Cheng Iron Works Co., Ltd. (also known as SWAN Air Compressor) was founded in 1956. The factory was firstly located in XinYi Street (Taichung), which is now the downtown of Taichung. In 1964, after got the export permission from the Ministry of Economy, Tong Cheng expanded its factory and moved to current location.
In the 1960s, the international society and international relations are tense and chaotic. The war between U.S.A and Vietnam was fighting intensely. Benefit from the U.S.A.’s policy and aid, Taiwan’s manufacturers were able to sell products to Vietnam to support US army, Tong Cheng is one the manufacturers. In this background, Tong Cheng was able to develop its business and started to join overseas exhibitions to promote SWAN brand air compressors.
To establish SWAN a renowned brand and to occupy market share were challenging tasks. Tong Cheng formulated its product strategy as 3 stages: 1. To substitute for imported industrial air compressors; 2. To substitute for Japanese brands; 3. To parallel with global leading brands. After years of hard working in product development, product improvement and professional services, SWAN brand air compressors have recognized as high quality machines by worldwide customers and won global fame from the market.
Tong Cheng has set up overseas subsidiaries in China, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia to provide sales and maintenance service.
