In 1989, the founder, a chemical engineering student, noticed Taiwan’s frequent water leakage issues due to poor waterproofing practices. At that time, solvent-based coatings were common, but he saw a growing demand for eco-friendly, non-toxic water-based solutions from Europe and the U.S. However, imports were expensive and there were few local products. He aimed to improve Taiwan’s waterproofing quality and founded Heng Chung, creating the "PLIMATES" brand. Starting with a small factory in Kaohsiung, PLIMATES focused on "Integrity, Quality, Service" and became a leader in Taiwan’s waterproofing industry with six modern factories.
