Zyxel’s GPON End-to-End solution includes OLT2406 (Optical Line Termination), PMG1005-T20A (GPON Optical Network Unit with 1-port GbE LAN) and PMG3000-D20A (Small form-factor pluggable transceiver). Zyxel OLT2406 is the FIRST central office platform of 2U rack that supports 2.5G GPON and 10G Active Ethernet in Taiwan. Different from digital subscriber lines, DSL is a cheaper, easier-to-deploy GPON E2E solution; with less operating power consumption, it helps saving money and energy while reducing carbon emission. Comparing with DSL framework, the GPON E2E solution shares high fiber bandwidth to subscribers through splitters. The deployment diagram is so simple that it needs less equipment and energy; less equipment also means easier management and lower cost dispatching technicians. More than that, the Zyxel PMG3000-D20A provides an option to deploy services flexibly: with PMG3000-D20A, service providers can easily upgrade the existing switches, CPE or access equipment through the Ethernet interface to access services via fiber.
