The XPG SX8000 is our first commercially-available M.2 2280 PCI Express 3.0 x4 SSD. Its main focus is unbridled speed, achieved via the low latency PCIe interface, which is much more direct than SATA and has significantly larger bandwidth. We also use premium 3D NAND and new NVMe 1.2 controller specifications to optimize performance, topping at a massive 2400MB/s compared to an average 500MB/s on SATA 6Gb/s SSDs. Write speeds reach 1000MB/s, more than twice traditional SATA SSDs. We are aiming the SX8000 at high-end gaming notebooks and desktops, especially for users who want to gain a big storage performance upgrade compared to SATA SSDs and HDDs, which have become the norm over the previous decade. The protocols and firmware that power the SX8000 take full advantage of multi-core processors and work better in tandem with high speed DDR4 to reduce bottlenecks. Users get better response, faster boot, faster loading, and smoother multitasking. The 3D NAND used on the SX8000 offers higher density than 2D NAND, so manufacturing bigger SSDs is more feasible (the SX8000 is available in 1TB). Better reliability and lower energy consumption are additional benefits of 3D NAND. The SX8000 arrives with a wide range of added features: LDPC error correction for data protection, SLC Caching, and DRAM Cache Buffer, both of which help boost performance on demand during high-load tasks.
