MCU-5X is an intelligent 5-Axis Simultaneous Machining Center with self-learning function. Its superior functions feature high-speed and high accuracy machining and is widely applied to die & mold, aerospace and medical manufacturing industries. The optimized mechanical structure and cutting ability are particularly suitable for one set-up machining of hard metal materials. Buffalo Machinery proposed the patented SMT Smart Machining Technology to enable the highly-increasing accuracy and self-learning on the machine, which ensures that MCU-5X can improve processing efficiency more than 15% to 25%. MCU-5X possesses four SMT innovations, including Axial Accuracy Control, Spindle Vibration Supervision, Tool-tip Positioning Control and Metal Removal Rate Optimization.

To cope with inaccuracy due to thermal expansion and the vibration resulting from various cutting conditions, SMT control module analyzes the data of the sensors, and makes immediate accuracy compensation as well as chatter suppression. The real-time compensation of the axial thermal growth when machining, the energy saving design function of Axial Accuracy Control can save the machine warm-up time up to 30-35mins per day equals 28-day per year. The intelligent self-learning capability uses a control module to assess the performance of the motor load, the machine rigidity limits, and the material properties of tool and workpiece, to statically compute the best metal removal rate, which enhances the cutting speed, reduces the processing time and avoids component damage owing to inappropriate cutting conditions. The inclusive compensation technology ensures the mechanism at optimal state with high stability and high reliability. Moreover, while accompanied by 3D powder pocket, laser unit and special internal stress relief devices which can operate the 3D Additive processing and 3D printing technology machining.
