Due to the ongoing worldwide trend of increasingly aging populations, healthcare providers must be prepared to deal with the changing needs and requirements of providing high quality healthcare services to the elderly at the present and on into the future. One of the key factors in modernizing healthcare services is the adoption of information and communications technologies (ICT) such as the internet of things (IoT) and cloud computing to help healthcare providers deliver medical diagnosis and treatment with greater efficiency and efficacy.
The Onyx-1222 not only provides enhanced multimedia capabilities, it can also be directly connected to medical bed’s movement control system and sensors, effectively acting as a human–machine interface (HMI) for the bed, thus preventing the possibility of a patient suffering a dangerous fall. Similarly, other medical bed features like bedside lights, temperature sensors, or weight sensors that indicate whether a patient is in the bed or not, can also be integrated for increased energy savings.
As Onyx-1222 is fanless, it emits no noise while operating so that patients will not be disturbed, and prevents cross-infection of disease that can occur with products that use fans. A camera shutter is included to ameliorate patient privacy concerns. With the addition of Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability, cable management is made easy by reducing the overall number of power cables required to power peripheral devices that can instead be directly connected to the Onyx-1222.
For medical professionals, Onyx-1222 can easily connect to a hospital’s health information system (HIS) where electronic medical records (EMR) can be readily accessed to provide up to the minute accurate information of a patient’s condition right at their bedside. Onyx-1222 seamlessly integrates ICT, IoT and cloud computing technologies as a means to provide the best all-round smart bedside terminal solution being developed by healthcare IT companies today.
