Xe lăn chủ động Merits L816 được thiết kế cho người dùng trẻ tuổi bị hạn chế chi dưới nhưng phần trên cơ thể bình thường. Khi sử dụng L816, tay người dùng có thể cử động thoải mái, thuận tiện cho việc tự đẩy xe lăn và thực hiện các thao tác tay rộng, đồng thời thuận tiện cho việc di chuyển trong nhà và ngoài trời. Để thuận tiện cho nhu cầu tự lái xe hay di chuyển của người dùng, sản phẩm sử dụng khung hợp kim nhôm siêu nhẹ, trọng lượng toàn bộ chỉ 11 kg. Bánh sau có thể tháo lắp nhanh, khung gập và nhiều ngăn chứa đồ. Để giúp dễ dàng thích ứng với những người sử dụng có chiều cao và thân hình khác nhau, có thể điều chỉnh góc tựa lưng, trọng tâm phía trước và phía sau, chiều cao yên xe và chiều dài bàn đạp chân. Người sử dụng ở Đài Loan sẽ lắp hệ thống lái trợ lực, kết cấu phải chắc chắn hơn so với bài thử nghiệm xe lăn tay thông thường (tốc độ xe lăn bình thường là 6 km/h, xe lăn có hỗ trợ động cơ điện có thể lên đến 25 km/h).
