Purpose of Plug-Via:
1. To prevent the solder balls going through unplugged holes while wave soldering, causing bypass of the solder joints between components.
2.With an electromagnetic shield effect, plug-via is done by pressing to fill ink into holes, and the fixture is applied to make air extraction and achieve 100% fulfillment. The crucial factors of all operations must be optimized, including mesh count, tension, squeegee shore, skew angle, etc. to affect plug-via quality.
Purpose of Solder Mask:
1.Solder Mask: Leaves the through hole on the board and its pad, covers all circuits and copper surfaces and prevents bypass while wave soldering.
2.Protector: Prevents moisture and electrolytes Oxidation that endanger circuits and electrical properties as well as external mechanical damage.
3.Insulation: As PCB gets thinner, line width & pitch get finer and the insulation between conductors is more prominent. Via double squeegee/ peel-off obtains an even solder mask onto the board with micro holes to increase physical properties.
