Taiwan’s Machinery Industry – Current State and Development Potential
According to IEK Consulting, in 2018 Taiwan’s machinery industry had an export value of US$27.4 billion. The top three export markets – China, the United States and Japan – accounted for a combined output value of NT$1.18 trillion, an increase of about 7.3% and a continued record high. A number of factors, primarily the stabilization of global oil prices and exchange rates, a recovery of the major industrial economies of Europe at the end of 2016, as well as an industrial upgrade in China leading to an expansion in automation and demand for new equipment, have contributed to remarkable growth in the output values of two industries: high-tech equipment and metal-processing machine tools. While 2017 saw declines from 2016 in a few categories (namely, industrial machinery, other machinery, and metal molds), other secondary machinery industries in Taiwan, including high-tech equipment, metal-processing machine tools, mechanical transmission components, and fluid machinery, all showed increasing output values.

All aspects of the machine tool industry, from the manufacture of parts and components to the assembly of whole machine tools, takes place in close proximity here, making central Taiwan the world’s only industry cluster for machine tools and components. Because of the constant quality upgrades and price advantages this creates, Taiwanese components have become the DNA of machine tools in many countries around the world.

Upstream machine tool components include ball screws and linear slides. In particular, Taiwan has become the world’s second largest supplier of ball screws. Meanwhile, Hiwin Technologies Corp. and other companies adequately support Taiwan’s domestic market demand and mainly provide components such as spindles required in machine tool assembly.

Global Machinery Industry Trends - Machine Tools Grow by Leaps and Bounds
According to an April 2018 report by Taiwan’s Department of Statistics, machine tools are the principal export of the global machinery industry. And according to research by Gardner Publications, global purchases of industrial machines have remained steady at US$80-90 billion in recent years. In 2018, global spending on machine tools was about US$91.9 billion, an increase of 4.8% compared to 2017 and the largest increase since 2011. With the steady growth of the global economy, the manufacturing industry is receiving an influx of orders, and with the rise of smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0, the global machine tool industry is flourishing once again.

The SDL-6 Six-axis linear drilling machine is using the linear motor as main drive mechanism. The overall ratio of utilization is higher by 14% than traditional ballscrew machine, which greatly increases customer's production capacity. This product replaces the worm and worm gear with a ball screw, so it can improve the overall accuracy and wear resistance, reduce the customer's precision compensation and adjustment time, and increase the overall production efficiency. Through the small slide rail process technology, the development of the smallest slide rails can reduce the space for customers to use and increase the usability of the application. The synchronous engineering concept is adopted for design. The specifications of each part and process are evaluated by the R&D team, so that each structural component can be completely planned in a series, and can be adjusted according to customer needs in the future. This product is made of high-strength aerospace aluminum alloy material, which can effectively reduce the amount of material cutting, reduce the amount of cutting fluid, and the aluminum alloy is light and environmentally friendly and can be recycled to achieve the lowest amount of waste generated.
SA-202CD is developed by adopting ISO Standards and Directives of CE and PED. To be applicable for all industries, it is designed in oil-less, clean air, less space and combination cabinet type which allows air dryer and air compressor to be purchase separately. SA-202CD features: 1. Fireproof and sound-absorbing material is adopted to reduce noise. Noise level is lower than 64dB. 2. Both air dryer unit and air compressor unit are designed the to be detachable, easy to connect with each other if needed. 3. Chroma 17040 Regenerative Battery Pack Test System is a high precision, efficiency and safety charge/discharge system designed specifically for secondary battery module and pack tests. AST ATOM 6500C is used in the 4/6”wafer photoresist coating process. When compared with conventional wafer tracks, the ATOM 6500C is unique with the innovative design elements listed below: 1. In terms of the processing equipment or general assembly fixture equipment, the most commonly used traditional clamping cylinder type is a rotary clamp cylinder that synchronously moves downwardand then pressesduring a 90-degree rotation, and has a rotary down section and a down pressure section. In the two-stage operation, there is a large demand for the operation space, while the HGR Rotary Clamp Cylinderdirectly rotates 90° at the highest point during operation, and it directly performs the downward pressure stroke. Compared with the traditional rotary lower downward pressure cylinder that needs to move down synchronously in the rotation section, the product needs less space for rotating down, so it saves nearly 50% of space requirements.The rotating direction is divided into two directions: right turn (HGR) and left turn (HGL).
