Advantech SOM-5991 is designed with Server-grade processor, which built in processor up to 16 cores, target to fulfill the application of server, cloud storage and Telecommunications system. It offers extreme computing performance and provides a spectrum of performance options to customer including 4C, 8C to 16Cores. In the past, old server application usually require over hundred Watt power consumption, SOM-5991 only 45W design not only provides a perfect computing performance but achieve power saving and eliminate the heat dissipation issue.
Second, the innovative design is that SOM-5991 is built in 10GBase-KR interface, support high speed data exchange rate(10,000 Mbit/s), which is 10 times than GbE. It should help fulfill the ever-increasing service application demands in the area of COM Express. For microserver application, users can take the advantage of fast design to achieve Tim-to-Market, only need to extend 10GbE to carrier board in their system based on the 10GB interface from COM Express.
In addition, SOM-5991 supports TPM 2.0 which is the latest technology of network security, enable the encryption function to make sure the network security while connecting to internet and transmit package. Moreover, PCIe x16 and 8 PCIe x1 support Non-Transparent Bridge (NTB), which allows redundancy via PCIe. This helps reduce data loss, allowing a secondary system to take over PCIe storage devices once CPU fail, and provides high availability for applications providing continuous service.
Advantech also takes advantage of its strong software capabilities to provide customers standardized APIs. Through the APIs, customers do not need to re-design their own software. Advantech builds a dedicated website to provide detailed reference documents on carrier board, software APIs and user manuals, and thermal design information, etc. Customers can get full and up-to-date information in such an easy way to save design efforts and development time.
